Arizona Housing Fund raises $1.3 million for affordable housing from $25 donations
Over the past three years, anyone who bought or sold a house was asked to contribute $25 to a fund for more housing, and 4,100 donors ponied up a cool $1.3 million so far. Out of that, the Arizona Housing Fund has handed $850,000 to four projects that will add about 200 new units to the Valley and in Chino Valley. The success with these voluntary donations is now being introduced in the multifamily realm: Every time a lease is signed, apartment owners can donate $5, and tenants are asked to round up their rent to pad the coffers.
