Regional Report: 2023 Economic Snapshot

This article recaps a panel discussion on the state of the national and regional economy and the local housing market. The Greater Phoenix economy is strong, with 2.3 million jobs and only 2.5 to 3 percent unemployment, thanks to longtime efforts to diversify the economy and create high-wage jobs. Housing costs continue to be a concern, but Phoenix is very competitive compared to similar markets like San Francisco and Austin. Speakers were Kristen Stephenson, Senior Vice President of Research & Analytics, Greater Phoenix Economic Council; Tina Tamboer, Senior Housing Analyst, The Cromford Report; and Steve Wyett, Chief Investment Strategist, BOK Financial.
