Mesa and business owners promise a ‘local hangout’ with new downtown developments
Thanks to a new Arizona State University campus that was approved in 2018, downtown Mesa is experiencing a comeback. Commercial and residential development has followed, with more than 750 apartments becoming available or in progress by the end of this year to fill the demand for students in the area. Melody on Main is already renting, ECO Mesa plans to start leasing in July and open in August, and the GRID will open in late summer or early fall. All of these housing units are spurring economic investment in the area as well, with a new brewery, arcade, donut shop, distillery and chocolate shop all lined up to serve the new population.
