Massive STV rental homes rejected amid protest

NIMBYs blocked a modest development of 228 rental homes in San Tan Valley, even though the San Tan Area Plan calls for more rentals. In response to “public concerns,” the applicant even made several changes to the plan, including reducing density, increasing setback and adding a traffic lane and signal on Hunt Highway. The Pinal County Board of Supervisors got over 1,000 letters against the project, triggering a “supermajority” of four votes to push it through, which didn’t happen.
