Developer scales back Chandler affordable housing project

After a contentious battle with Chandler NIMBYs, Dominium has pivoted on a plan for affordable housing. Instead of 518 sorely needed affordable apartments near Arizona Avenue and Ocotillo Road, it’s asking for approval for 282 subsidized senior housing units, which it hopes will quell squawking about too much traffic. The neighbors also opposed “the type of people and the potential for crime that that an affordable housing project could bring,” so there’s no word on whether they’ll complain about the potentially rowdy older residents. The remainder of the 25 acres would see industrial development, as per the existing city and county plan.
