Axon CEO: Company exploring HQ options outside Scottsdale amid zoning fight
Axon, the maker of Tasers, is threatening to leave Scottsdale if it can’t get a rezoning request. The city and neighbors are OK with it building a headquarters there on land it owns, but they’re balking at its plan to add a hotel and nearly 2,000 homes to ensure its workforce has places to live. Axon CEO Rick Smith suggested in an earnings call on Feb. 27 that the company could pull out of the state altogether because of the “antidevelopment” stance in Scottsdale.
