Axon CEO calls out Scottsdale in earnings call, says company will explore other HQ options

The CEO of Axon, which manufactures Tasers, said in a Feb. 27 earnings call that the firm is considering axing its plan to build a new headquarters in Scottsdale, citing an “anti-development” atmosphere because it can’t get land it owns rezoned to add nearly 2,000 homes. Rick Smith said Axon has outgrown its current headquarters and “can’t grow adequately without the housing” for its workers. Neighbors of the nearby Stonebrook II neighborhood have vehemently opposed rezoning due to the usual NIMBY arguments of traffic, density, property values and water use.
