Arizona leads nation in build-to-rent construction

Although single-family rental homes aren’t a new idea, they’ve flourished in metro Phoenix in recent years. Arizona leads the nation in build-to-rent homes, with 2,011 planned or being built per million residents compared to the national average of 345. And 6,000 of the 8,200 units in the Valley popped up in the past five years. While these homes provide more space for long-term renters who can’t afford a home and maybe want to start a family, the state still needs many more single- and multi-family homes in order to solve the housing crisis.
