300-acre project includes auto mall, hospital proposed in Laveen, but neighbors concerned
NIMBYism isn’t relegated to multifamily: A proposed development in Laveen has people up in arms against not just apartments, but also an auto mall, hospital and resort. Neighbors quoted in the article oppose changing the agrarian nature of the area; one who happens to be a large custom-home developer wants to keep large-lot zoning in place (what a surprise). They also pooh-pooh the car dealerships, despite the amount of tax revenue they bring in, and claim that Laveen doesn’t need another hospital because Banner might hypothetically build one there someday.
