Top 10 Markets for Multifamily Deliveries in H1 2023

Phoenix led the nation in the number of apartments delivered in the first half of 2023. Of the 154,366 units that came online across the U.S., 10 cities were responsible for 35 percent of them. Phoenix alone delivered 8,062 in 36 properties, which accounted for 2.8 percent of the total. Phoenix delivered 6,398 units in the first half of 2022, making it the only metro to increase its apartment stock year-over-year. Tempe-North, Phoenix-Midtown and Glendale-South had the biggest booms, together supplying more than 3,000 new homes. People keep moving here from other, pricier metro areas, keeping the demand up, particularly for the Lifetstyle segment, which made up 97 percent of new deliveries.
