Tim Steller’s column: Development effort fails again at key midtown Tucson site
Tucson lost out on 222 new and sorely needed housing units recently on a prime midtown site when the developer decided to pull out because costs got too high. As Tim Steller observed, “A combination of unfortunate underlying zoning, drawn-out processes, neighborhood objections and random events have kept anything from materializing.” Although neighbors he quoted said they’d like to see apartments on the site, they want the project to be a better fit, and Steller agreed.
