Buckeye was the fastest-growing city in the nation from 2018-22 among 344 U.S. cities with a population of 100,000 or more as of 2022, according to a report by SmartAsset. It grew 48.1 percent over the five-year span to reach more than 105,567 residents. The Southwest in general showed beefy growth and several Valley cities were high in the rankings. Goodyear was number three with a 27.42 percent surge to 105,404 people in 2022; Gilbert, San Tan Valley and Surprise were also in the top 30. All of these new residents have attracted robust industrial and retail centers, further boosting the economy.
