Phoenix’s West Valley Navigates Apartment Construction Boom

From 2010 to 2019, the West Valley saw less than 3,000 new housing rental units come online, but in 2023, it’s set to get over 4,600. What gives? The west side — including Buckeye, Glendale, Goodyear and Surprise — is typically more affordable, for one. And it’s seeing big changes, including expansion and diversification of local economies. This region is also gung-ho on build-to-rent homes offering more space and perks like private backyards. Also, it’s finally getting five-star luxury apartment communities offering amenities like dog parks, pickleball and resort-style pools, which are luring tenants.
