Phoenix is the Biggest Mover in Apartment Permitting

Phoenix moved up two spots to land the second-highest number of apartments permitted in the nation in the 12 months ending in November 2023, with 20,890. That puts it just under New York, with 22,228, and makes it the biggest mover on a report from RealPage. While other cities are seeing permitted units plummet—New York, for example, is down by nearly 15,700 units from the previous year—Phoenix continues to be a big contributor to easing the housing crisis.
