Official: Town’s water future is bright
Queen Creek’s director of water resources, Paul Gardner, said at a recent town council meeting that reports on the death of development there were premature. The town signed a $27 million agreement to bring in water from Cibola in western Arizona and a $30 million deal with farmers and landowners in western Maricopa County. It’s also pursuing “aggressive water recycling,” which, in combination with the new sources, will have a cumulative effect on the water supply. In a decade, the town will rely on groundwater for only 5 to 10 percent of its needs.
