Mesa build-to-rent pioneer will expand to Florida, Texas and Utah

The Phoenix metro area has been the poster child for build-to-rent communities, and one of the pioneers of the sector, Mesa-based Christopher Todd, is now opening offices in Florida, Texas and Utah. Christopher Todd Communities built luxurious one-story rental homes with yards that tapped into a new market. It joined forces with Scottsdale-based Taylor Morrison Home Corp. in 2019, but the two split in November 2022 and Christopher Todd regrouped before announcing this expansion into other regions with strong in-migration.
