Laveen residents push back on Gila Foothills development over auto mall, more

City Of Phoenix
Laveen NIMBYs are fighting a proposed 300-acre development in the Gila Foothills that would offer 800 new rental apartments and homes along with an auto mall, resort and hospital. The usual squawking over increased traffic congestion came up, and they don’t want the area’s rural character to be compromised. They apparently can’t see that this so-called “unsightly development,” as the article mentions, will bring in tax revenue and a medical facility, both of which will benefit current residents, as well as badly needed housing for those who are begging for relief from high rents.
