As part of a push to find solutions for its housing crisis, Flagstaff City Council could change a zoning law to allow housing to be built on areas originally designated for public facilities. The city, Northern Arizona University and Flagstaff Unified School District control many of the 181 parcels that meet that definition. While some discussion surrounded whether or not to try to build only affordable housing on the land, “City Housing Director Sarah Darr pointed out that while Flagstaff indeed needs more affordable housing units, it also needs units of all price points.”
