Ambassador Event: Addressing Housing Supply in the Region
The Greater Phoenix Economic Council (GPEC) on Jan. 30 hosted “Addressing Housing Supply in the Region” featuring local experts from the public and private sectors discussing how to support responsible housing development in the region. One takeaway: Even though more housing is needed—particularly affordable housing—Phoenix remains one of the most affordable metro areas, according to Elliott Pollack, who was one of the speakers. Other messages: Businesses, nonprofits and local governments need to collaborate on housing; local governments need to remove bureaucratic roadblocks; and communities need to start accepting more density. These things need to happen for Phoenix to grow and remain economically competitive.
