Central Phoenix trailer park to be replaced with housing to serve the ‘missing middle’

The Republic
Venue Projects bought Wonderview mobile home park on Highland Avenue and 14th Place in 2017 with the goal of modernizing it but keeping it a place for people to live in trailers—a component of affordable housing that’s been gradually withering. City codes provide disincentives for that type of housing and it wouldn’t pencil out financially, so Venue bought out many of the residents and hopes to develop 42 multifamily units for the “missing middle” modeled after midcentury courtyard-style apartments that retro fans adore. It submitted plans and will start neighborhood meetings soon.
