5-star hotel, condos and more proposed for redevelopment of former CrackerJax amusement park

Development-averse Scottsdale could be home to a new $1 billion redevelopment project at the old CrackerJax amusement park site near Scottsdale and Bell roads. The recently submitted proposal for the Parque—the brainchild of George Kurtz, CEO of cybersecurity company CrowdStrike—would include nearly 1,000 apartments, about 250 condominium units, a five-star hotel, 100,000 square feet of office space and five restaurants. Scottsdale Councilmember Betty Janik tells the Republic that some nearby residents have already begun to complain about the usual NIMBY talking points: too much density, building heights and the potential for increased traffic.
