“Yes in God’s backyard”: Arizona bill would fast-track housing on church land
Valley faith leaders are rallying behind a bill that would generally exempt religious groups from zoning reviews if they want to build housing on land they own. HB2815, which supporters have nicknamed “Yes in God’s backyard,” would be a workaround against NIMBYs who regularly oppose multifamily housing. The bill, which has bipartisan support, cleared its first hurdle at the House Appropriations Committee in February.
