Will Arizona’s new water limits halt Phoenix-area home building? No, and here’s why
As the nation wrings its hands over Arizona’s water supply, housing development can and will forge ahead, particularly in the Valley, where most of the population growth has been and will continue to. Limits on new single-family homes aren’t an issue for multifamily developers, which is good news for anyone earning the area median income or below and already priced out of home ownership. Instead of worrying about a supposed lack of water in outlying areas for the few lucky enough to be looking to buy a home, the state instead could try to ease regulations, speed up permitting, combat NIMBYs and provide incentives for building.
