Economist warns of dire times in Pinal unless many more houses are built

In a meeting with Maricopa city planners, economist Elliot Pollack said the lack of housing is “the biggest threat to the greater economic development that we’ve ever run into” in the state. He urged cities to make building housing at all price points easier so that top and middle-income earners can move up and create availability for those earning less, including essential workers. And while he disagrees with rent control and criticized NIMBYs, he also wasn’t on board with recent legislative efforts that would remove obstacles from local zoning.
