Arizona County Leads the Nation in Population Growth for Third Straight Year
Maricopa County, home to Phoenix and the Valley, was the fastest-growing county in the nation for the third straight year in 2022 in terms of population. Its net growth of 56,800 residents was a 1.2 percent increase, and neighboring Pinal County—home to about 10 percent of residents in the metro area—saw the highest growth by percentage at 3.6 percent. Affordability, job opportunity, quality of life and a less-restrictive regulatory environment are to thank for this boom, which also attracted the most robust pipeline of multihousing starts in 30 years.
