West Valley growth depends on finding new water sources. Here are some proposed solutions

A study by the U.S. Bureau of Reclamation and West Valley Water Association (WVWA)—a group of water providers and agencies that operate in the western suburbs of Phoenix—says that although Arizona and its cities aren’t running out of water in the short term, the area needs to cut back its reliance on groundwater and figure out new water supplies. Growth is going gangbusters in the West Valley, and some businesses have grandfathered water rights. The study proposes solutions including increasing renewable water supplies to offset groundwater pumping, using more reclaimed water, expanding and improving infrastructure, forging regional partnerships and implementing better water management, including building more water-efficient homes.
