Valley housing crisis is a ‘growing cancer’

Arizona State University’s Project humanities hosted a panel discussion on the state’s affordable housing crisis on Sept. 8, 2022. Speakers cited the lack of regulations on landlords and the proliferation of corporations buying homes as two of the culprits, but one speaker noted that supply hasn’t kept up with demand: Over 487,000 new housing units were built in metro Phoenix the first decade of this century, but it fell to 240,000 he next decade, while population continues to spike.
