With Arizona 270,000 homes short of what it needs and 80 percent of voters in the state saying housing costs are too high, legislators this session look eager to make needed changes. More than two dozen housing-related bills have been filed so far this year with more sure to come. Some are highly unlikely to go anywhere, but others have strong bipartisan support, and AMA is working with lawmakers on these. Finally, the League of Arizona Cities and Towns, which blocked most of last year’s bills, might be losing its steel grip on the Capitol in the face of a relentless lack of housing supply.
