Lawmakers on either side of the aisle have differing views on how to solve the housing crisis. Generally, Republicans want to cut red tape and relax zoning laws and Democrats want to remove the state ban on rent control. (The article fails to note that some of the strongest Republican-sponsored bills had robust bipartisan support.) Neither idea survived the previous legislative session, but the Arizona Multihousing Association stands behind bills that would remove barriers to building and increase the supply.
