Tempe parking lot to be turned into 129 apartments with affordable rent

Construction site and development in London
In an innovative example of infill housing, development will begin soon in Tempe on 129 affordable apartments being built on a podium above a surface parking lot that’s shared with a neighboring office building. Dwell: A Work @ Home Community will shun luxury amenities and build on underutilized property, helping to keep the prices attainable for residents earning 80 to 120 percent of area median income (AMI). The developer, Holualoa Cos., has plans for other “shared parking” concepts in the Valley, and expressed interest in repurposing office buildings to add residential.
