Tempe greenlights 2 high-rise complexes, adds 500 new apartments

Tempe’s infill housing game continues to be strong thanks to two new buildings the city council approved on Sept. 7 that will bring 500 units to the Arizona State University area. Skye Tempe will be a new 27-story tower at University Drive and Myrtle Avenue loaded with 281 market-rate apartments for “young professionals.” The Marshall at Tempe will offer 189 units in a 7-story building at 1057 E. Apache Blvd. and will target ASU students. City leaders smartly see the addition of more housing as necessary to bring down prices, but they also note that more residents near downtown will make the area more economically vibrant.
