Source of Income Laws on the Rise
Source of income laws aren’t just gaining steam here in Arizona—they’re on the rise nationwide at the local and state levels. Phoenix, Tucson and Tempe now have laws prohibiting property owners from considering source of income when renting, thus forcing them to accept Housing Choice Vouchers (HCVs) despite sometimes insurmountable red tape. Rather than punish business owners, the National Apartment Association urges incentives. It supports the Choice in Affordable Housing Act, which would increase the number of vouchers, ease the burden on public housing agencies and incentivize the participation of rental operators across the country.
