Hard work and support from companies in the Arizona apartment industry helped my friend, Sierra get back on her feet.
A 32-year-old single mother, Sierra struggled through drug addiction, life on the streets and the loss of loved ones, friends and self-respect. Then she sought help, deciding “not choose the easy way out.”
Sierra received a shelter bed through Community Bridges Inc. and became involved with Entryway, a nonprofit that helps people transition from homelessness to stability.
She took advantage of job skills training, resume help, mock interviews and a career fair.
Now Sierra has a job as a multifamily community leasing agent, plus a home for her daughter and their two cats.
“I am excited to see what else the future holds,” she says.
