Single family homes for rent are getting more expensive. Here’s where prices are going up

While apartment rents are starting to soften, one sector of the market is still strong: single-family rental homes. Monthly rent went up from $2,212 to $2,330 from the last week in March 2022 to 2023, a 5.3% jump even though inventory also increased. The number of homes on the market ballooned 75 percent during the same time, brom 36,688 to 64,210. The reason could be that demand is growing in that sector as people wait for interest rates and home prices to calm down before committing to a mortgage.
