Scottsdale City Council members: Development top issue in 2024
Development tops the list of pressing issues for the Scottsdale City Council this year, with some members continuing to kowtow to NIMBY pressure to limit housing. Axon initially proposed 2,552 apartments on its multi-use campus, and it’s down to 1,975. Councilwoman Betty Janik thinks that’s still too many, considering The Parque is bringing 1,182 units. Meanwhile, residents also are fighting the modest, 255-unit Mercado Village, and Mayor David Ortega is pledging to oppose backyard casitas and crack down on short-term rentals.
