 Phoenix high-rise development planned near Steele Indian School Park clears 1st hurdle

The Phoenix Planning Commission on Dec. 7 gave its unanimous blessing for The Central Park, initially approved in 2019 as predominantly a set of office towers, to be reconfigured as a mixed-use project with 1,450 housing units next to Steele Indian School Park. Although the development would provide direly needed condos, apartments and senior living near light rail, a cadre of neighbors had concerns about the design and orientation of the buildings. It now needs City Council approval.
