Phoenix aims for housing on city-owned sites, with varying success

Phoenix has put the bullseye on roughly 20 city-owned parcels that are ripe for affordable housing, and one site just got the green light from the city council. It should add 204 units of affordable senior housing. Proposals from developers interested in building housing on 12 vacant lots near 3rd Street and Northern Avenue in the Sunnyslope are due by March 22. Other sites haven’t been as popular; no one responded to a request for proposals on land west of downtown near 15th Avenue and Polk Street.
