Paradise Valley church designed by Frank Lloyd Wright protégé sold, demolition expected

After staring down aobut $2 million in needed repairs, parishioners of a hearly six-decade-old church in Paradise Valley designed by Frank Lloyd Wright’s son-in-law has sold to a developer that hopes to build homes on the site. The congregation of Ascension Lutheran Church had been dwindling and the aging building would have diverted funds from their mission of helping the less fortunate, so the leadership voted to sell the roughly 5-acre site for $11 million. The site still has to undergo a general plan amendment, rezoning, preliminary plat and final plat in order for homes to be built on it.
