Opinion: It might actually be the NIMBYs

Denver voters derailed a plan to turn a defunct golf course into housing, and this opinion piece points the finger at NIMBYS. “[A]reas with high homeownership were most likely to oppose the measure even when controlling for income, education and race,” it says. More telling, the opposition claimed that “health concerns” and “interests of the residents in the immediate vicinity of the proposed development” were at the forefront, but residents closest to the planned homes were actually slightly more supportive than those living elsewhere.
