New apartment development in Old Town Scottsdale will cater to seniors who enjoy urban living

Plans are underway for a walkable, urban 55-plus community at Scottsdale and Osborn roads on the site of what is now an Olive Garden restaurant in Old Town Scottsdale that will include about 119 active adult, 74 assisted living and 34 memory care units. The developer, Empire Group, is also behind the mixed-use Astra in downtown Phoenix, which will be Arizona’s tallest building at 541 feet. The city council, which nixed the same developer’s plan for a mixed-use project along the city’s canal, unanimously supported the project.
