My View: Why we need a balanced path to greater housing affordability

As head of the Arizona Real Estate Investors Association, I support cutting red tape to encourage the construction of a variety of housing categories, including manufactured homes, condominiums, tiny homes and guest houses.
Concerningly, only 4,625 of the 48,000 housing units recently counted by the City of Phoenix as newly built or saved from demolition are considered affordable. Most are high-end luxury apartments.
To achieve a more balanced housing stock and achieve real housing affordability, we need to ask some hard questions.
