Morrison Ranch could see 700 apartments

Morrison Ranch could see 700 apartments

The apartment complex would serve as a buffer between existing Morris Ranch houses and any industrial uses of adjacent vacant land, the developer says. (Town of Gilbert)

Luxury living or light industrial: Which one will Gilbert go for? A developer wants to build 700 apartments and mixed-use on 39 acres of a 302-acre parcel that the Planning Commission last year voted to recommend zoning it as light industrial. The two-story apartments, called Residences at the Ranch, would sit on 33 acres, and the commercial spaces (including boutique shops) would take up the remaining 5.9 acres. This would provide a “buffer” between the light industrial and other residents of Morrison Ranch, but a minor General Plan amendment is needed to move forward. As always, the top concerns from neighbors included the boogeyman of additional traffic and their beef that there already are “too many apartments in the town,” so they want to block any more from being built.
