Maricopa County landlord incentive program connects over 1,000 people to housing

About 1,250 people once experiencing homelessness in Maricopa County now have housing because of a partnership supported by $5 million in federal COVID-19 relief funding.
Announced in May 2022, the partnership between the county and low-income housing operator HOM Inc. provides incentives for landlords to rent to people who experienced homelessness. The program has helped nearly 450 new property owners enter the housing voucher system, making 1,000 properties available, according to a statement from Maricopa County.
The incentives include loss protection and monetary inducements for landlords.
The partnership — known as Threshold — is being extended through June 2025. The Maricopa County Board of Supervisors unanimously approved an additional $2.5 million to fund the extension.
