Kaiser: Fictions do disservice to housing supply bill in Legislature

In this opinion piece, Sen. Steve Kaiser, R-Phoenix, argues SB 1117, meant to make changes to help Arizona solve its housing crisis, has been misinterpreted to the point of being fictional. He says that Paradise Valley councilwoman Julie Pace’s critique of the bill makes several false claims, which he refutes — the main one being that her town wouldn’t even fall under the new legislation, which only applies to cities of more than 25,000 residents. Kaiser points to his time serving on the Housing Supply Study Committee, which found that cities and towns are the main impediments to building, and he outlines factually what the bipartisan-supported SB1117 would do, which is help developers build more housing so people will have places to live.
