It’s Another Month of Negative Multifamily Rent Growth

January 2024 marked the sixth month of negative rent growth, with nationwide median rent falling by 0.3 percent to $1,373. It’s not a big surprise considering fewer people usually move in fall and winter, thus squelching demand. That’s good news for renters, who are seeing some relief, but national media rents are still $200 higher than they were three years ago.
