It was a Super 8, then transitional housing, now it’ll be Tempe apartments
In yet another creative solution to the housing crisis, Tempe could approve a new 15-story apartment tower on the site of a former Super 8 motel near Rural Road and Apache Boulevard. The project’s plans include 280 units and 3,000 feet of ground-floor commercial space. It will be close to light rail and Arizona State University and likely fill a need for more student housing. Formerly used for transitional housing, the motel will be demolished, and the city is looking for another motel for that purpose.
