Governor Announces $89M for New Affordable Housing and Homeless Response
The Arizona Department of Housing (ADOH) is doling out $89 million in grants aiming to shelter those experiencing homelessness and provide affordable housing statewide. It awarded $40 million in grants from the newly-created Homeless Shelter and Services (HSS) Fund to cities and agencies and $49 million to 19 affordable housing developers from state and federal funds. A total of 2,195 units will be built in Phoenix, Flagstaff, Tucson and smaller cities; some apartments will be solely for seniors.
