Fiesta Mall developers request rezoning of 80-acre site in Mesa

Mesa could get 4,000 new multifamily housing units within a massive pedestrian- and bicycle-friendly development along with open space, offices and commercial if things go according to plan. Tempe-based Verde Investments, which has begun demolition of the former Fiesta Mall in Mesa, filed a formal rezoning application to change the land from limited commercial zoning to an infill development district. It enlisted Nelsen Partners, the architecture firm behind the popular Scottsdale Quarter and the redevelopment of Paradise Valley Mall, to design this new community, which will surely go through several iterations before construction begins.
