Council draws line on multifamily projects

Queen Creek cracked down on new apartment buildings in town by asking staff for a
new General Plan amendment that would allow them only in or near commercial or
employment zones. Mayor-elect Julia Wheatley said in one fiscal year, 30 percent of
housing permits were multifamily, which apparently is a bad thing because rents are too high for people working in Queen Creek to afford them. So it makes more sense to the town to simply try to squash the housing stock?
