Buckeye could get nearly 1,000 new apartments near Verrado

Buckeye City Council approved more than 900 new apartments in the rapidly growing neighborhood of Verrado at the northeast corner of Verrado Way and Van Buren Street.
The multifamily community planned by Greenlight Communities would go in near a new Costco store that has helped drive the area’s growth.
About a third of the units will have more affordable rents, offering studio and one-bedroom options. Walkability is also a priority, the developer said.
The site will include commercial buildings and an expansion to the city’s water treatment facilities.
